Band Of Outsiders

I have heard alot of people say that the "pennyloafer" is DEAD. I am sorry but I don't agree! The pennyloafer for me is still a classic piece of Americana, which can be worn casually or with a business suit. Have the imagination and "guts" to dress a pennyloafer any way you chose and be part of a culture different to the rest.

Michael Jackson Loafers

A pair of classic loafers that was worn by the king of POP, Michael Jackson. The loafers were custom-made for him and auctioned off on ebay. Have no details on the history of the maker or when it was made. MJ loved loafers, not only for he's extreme fashion sense, but also because of its extreme comfortability and flexibility. One can only MOONWALK in classic loafers!

Vintage Bass Ad

The "Mac Daddy" of handsewn mocassins. GH Bass and Co was started by George Henry Bass in 1876 in a small wooden building in an obscure logging town. Soon its reputation for quality materials and workmanship spread the world over. Today that company is synonymous with the classic styling and just-be-yourself attitude everyone loves most.

Sebago Loafer

My "fetish" for shoes (loafers in particular) will never end! Here is a pair of classic SEBAGOS, circa 1960's. Pennyloafer with an unusual split-toe. SEBAGOS, as it was commonly know in the past, was traditionally hand-crafted in Wilton, Maine USA. Sit back and soak in this classic piece of footwear.

Pennyloafers Mishti

This blog is a personal journey around that indefinable something that delineates a kind of American ideal that appears to never change, but has a subtle way of appearing in retro ads  and nostalgic Hollywood movies. My journey has been one of attempting the impossible – to recreate some mythical era, a tasteful “look” that could be seen in movies, on Ivy League campuses and National Geographic books. In fact, it has become my obsession! With the internet, has come a wealth of knowledge available at a click, and it’s never been more fun and easy to seek out that classic piece of Americana.
My hope is that you will enjoy this blog as much as I enjoy seeking out that classic Americana.
